Considering how many twists and turns there have been in the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga over the years, it should not come as a surprise that there seems to be another one. For months, it had looked like the Frenchman had no interest in signing an extension with PSG. On the other hand, the club also seemed to be pushing him towards the exit door rather than risking losing out on a significant fee.
Mbappe was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour. And for a while, he was no longer training with the first-team squad either.
Yet, an exit has not materialised till now. And it is starting to look like not only will Mbappe spend the season at PSG, but an extension is not out of the realm of possibility either.
As tweeted out by Fabrice Hawkins, Mbappe is available to Luis Enrique and should be in the squad against Toulouse. The fact that he was open to an extension was a determining factor in his reinstatement.
Mbappe now open to PSG extension amid Real Madrid links
Of course, that will come as a blow to Real Madrid fans’ hopes of signing Mbappe, whether this summer or the next one. It must be pointed out though that no extension has not been agreed yet between PSG and the player.
It remains to be seen how things play out in this regard over the coming weeks and months. If Mbappe does end up signing another extension with PSG though, it is hard to imagine that Real Madrid would try to sign him again in the future.
This Mbappe saga has just been going on for far too long now. The Frenchman is one of the best players in the world without a doubt. But at some point, Real Madrid might decide to move on.
