Liverpool find themselves in a terrible position right now. The club need to strengthen in the middle of the park after losing several midfielders this summer. But they appear to have lost out on not one but both of their top targets to Chelsea. And now, they might turn their eyes towards a couple of Real Madrid players.

Liverpool made a British record offer for Moises Caicedo and even had a deal agreed with Brighton & Hove Albion but still could not sign the midfielder. He has joined Chelsea in a £115 million move instead.

Romeo Lavia appeared to be Liverpool’s backup option for the position. But he looks set to be on his way to Chelsea as well.

As reported by The Athletic, Lavia has decided to join Chelsea. A £50 million fee plus add-ons is expected to seal the transfer.

The Reds have been linked with a few Real Madrid players already this summer. And as tweeted out by The Secret Scout, Liverpool have enquired about the situation of Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde. They are of serious interest to the Premier League club.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid would consider letting either Tchouameni or Valverde go this summer. They are both integral to this team and are a regular feature in the starting XI.

At the same time, Real Madrid have shown in recent years that they are always open to the right offer. Just last summer, they let club legend Casemiro join Manchester United almost out of the blue.

Thus, nothing should be ruled out. Especially when you consider that Liverpool recently made a transfer bid north of £100 million for Caicedo. If an offer of that magnitude arrived at the table of Real Madrid, they might have a tough time not accepting it.
