Aurelien Tchouameni’s first season at Real Madrid was very inconsistent. The French midfielder joined from AS Monaco and made a bright start to life in the Spanish capital. But then, his form dipped, especially after the World Cup. By the end of the season, he appeared to have lost his status as a nailed-on starter and was being left on the bench in the majority of the big games.
Yet, that has not resulted in any decrease in interest for Tchouameni. Elite clubs from around Europe continue to be linked with the Frenchman.
One club that has been linked with Tchouameni for a while is Liverpool. And those links have only intensified over the past day or so.
Liverpool recently lost out in the race for Moises Caicedo, with the Ecuadorian international choosing to join Chelsea instead. If recent rumours are anything to go by, Romeo Lavia is another midfielder who is set to pick a move to Stamford Bridge over Anfield.
Real Madrid make Tchouameni decision amid Liverpool links
Thus, the Reds find themselves in a very difficult situation and that has sparked rumours of them trying to sign Tchouameni from Real Madrid. Would Los Blancos or the player himself be open to the move though?
As reported by The Athletic, Real Madrid see Tchouameni as a key player and would not consider his departure. On the other hand, the Frenchman has no interest in leaving either.
Liverpool have been linked with Tchouameni since before he joined Real Madrid. They could not make the move happen then and it looks unlikely this summer as well.
Tchouameni seems to be back in the starting XI right now after Carlo Ancelotti shifted to a 4-4-2 formation. In that set up, the Frenchman has a clear role in the team, at the base of the midfield four.
