Injuries are proving to be a major headache for Real Madrid once again this season. Depth was already a major issue for them and they have not been helped at all by key players going down with long-term injury problems. Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao might be out for the entire season. Arda Guler has undergone surgery as well, before playing even a single minute of football for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid players have been dealing with injury problems for many years now. And it looks like nothing has improved in that regard.

Thus, there has been very little good news for the club on the injury front lately. It does seem that two of their players are closing in on their fitness though.

As reported by Real Madrid’s official website, Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy trained on their own. There is also a picture of the two jogging.

Neither Ceballos nor Mendy is a starter right now. But they can still have important roles in the team, especially when you consider how thin the depth is.

We saw Ceballos make some superb contributions off the bench last season, which earned him a contract extension. On the other hand, there have even been suggestions that Mendy could be given minutes at centre-back in the absence of Militao.

Both of them have been dealing with injuries. But fortunately, they are not long-term ones. Considering that they are back on the grass, one would expect to see them back available for selection pretty soon as well.

On the other hand, one would be hoping that no more Real Madrid players pick up any serious injuries moving forward. They could end up derailing the club’s season for good. They cannot afford that, having only won the Copa del Rey last time around.
