Real Madrid need to make additions in a number of positions across the pitch. Not all of those reinforcements are not expected to arrive this summer but hopefully, they will tick off as many boxes as possible. One position in unquestionable need of strengthening is right-back. Dani Carvajal remains the starter there, even though it is quite clear that he is no longer the player that he was in his prime.

Carvajal has not been performing at a top level for some time now. But he has retained his position in the team because the club have no real competition for him.

Nacho and Lucas Vazquez are also past 30 years of age and neither of them is a genuine right-back. Alvaro Odriozola seems to be completely out of Carlo Ancelotti’s and it is a surprise he is still at the club despite being linked with a move away for the past several transfer windows.

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have been linked with quite a few right-backs in recent times. One of them is Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid, arguably the brightest young right-back in Spanish football at the moment.

Real Madrid are not the only ones being linked with Fresneda though. Recently, rumours had broken out that Chelsea were ready to push for his signature. But there is some good news regarding that.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, there is no interest from Chelsea. No talks and no chance to move for Fresneda.

Thus, it would be safe to count Chelsea out of the race to sign Fresneda. The Blues already have two very highly-rated players at right-back in the form of Reece James and Malo Gusto. Thus, signing Fresneda at this point in time would not make much sense for them.
