The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga continues to go on and on. Just when it was looking like the end was in sight, things have taken another turn and nobody really knows what to make of the matter. After being left out of PSG’s pre-season tour and their squad for the Ligue 1 opener, the Frenchman is suddenly back in the fold and looks almost certain to spend the season with the defending Ligue 1 champions.

This is an almost unbelievable turn of events. Even a week ago, it looked like there was no way back for Mbappe at PSG.

Now, there are suggestions that even a contract extension is not out of the question. Of course, those who have been following the Mbappe saga for years will not be surprised by how things have turned out.

There is another update on the situation as well. As reported by Le Parisien (via Madrid Xtra), there is no agreement between Mbappe and Real Madrid for 2024, despite PSG’s doubts.

Thus, it looks like Mbappe’s future is well and truly up in the air at the moment. Rumours have suggested that he is open to signing an extension with PSG, but nothing has been agreed yet.

At the same time, if Mbappe does end up signing a contract extension with PSG in the future, would Real Madrid consider making a move for him? Even if he had a release clause in place.

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to Mbappe’s situation. Nobody should expect anything less though. This transfer saga has been going on for years now and it still has legs.

Despite all of this, it feels like Mbappe is destined to end up at Real Madrid. But we are not as confident saying that today as we were a couple of weeks back.
