As the final whistle blew at the Power Horse Stadium, the scoreboard read ‘Real Madrid 3-1 UD Almeria’. It was another staggering away outing for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they outshone the hosts almost throughout the entire game. The result puts Los Blancos top of the La Liga points table.
Real Madrid’s youth graduate, Sergio Arribas, opened the scoring for the hosts. It came from a brilliant cross, where his run was left unspotted and Los Blancos defenders could only watch on as he headed the ball past Andriy Lunin to make it 1-0 in favour of Almeria.
Although the lead did not last long as Jude Bellingham scored the equaliser with a precise finish from close range. In the second half, the Englishman scored his second goal of the game to put Real Madrid ahead.
After that Vinicius Jr. made it 3-1 in the 73rd minute, which was the final scoreline of the game. And it had various talking points from a Real Madrid perspective.
3 takeaways from Real Madrid’s 3-1 win against Almeria
First and foremost, Bellingham fits in perfectly with the squad. The Englishman’s understanding with his teammates makes it look as if he has been playing for Real Madrid for years. His presence on the pitch makes a major impact on the side. He has already bagged 3 goals in 2 matches in La Liga, which is hopefully an indication of more good things to come in the future.
Secondly, Aurelien Tchoumeni and Fede Valverde are midfield machines. Although their names were not on the scoresheet, their performances against Almeria were commendable as their untiring legs kept on delivering till the win was secured.
Last but not least, Real Madrid badly need a strong presence in the box. Most of the creativity from the team’s outfield players had no end result as there was no target man to convert the chances.
With all this said, Real Madrid’s performance today, was one to cherish for the Madridistas. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come next season.
