Real Madrid do not have a lot of depth in a number of positions across the pitch right now. Yet, it looks like the club are pretty content with the options that they have and no further additions appear likely this summer, unless a good opportunity crops up, like a potential chance to sign Kylian Mbappe from PSG.

Despite this, Real Madrid continue to be linked with plenty of players. And one of the most surprising names on that list is that of Ansu Fati.

Fati has come through the ranks at La Masia and Barcelona had enough faith in him to hand him the number 10 jersey, previously worn by Lionel Messi. The Spaniard’s development has not gone according to plan though.

Injuries have played a major part in that and right now, he is nowhere near being a regular starter. Would he be open to the idea of joining Real Madrid though if the opportunity presented itself?

As reported by Cadena SER, Tomas Roncero said about the situation:

"“Ansu Fati, no matter how much Xavi says, wants to leave. And if Real Madrid calls him, he comes clapping, because I have a good relationship with people around him.”"

Thus, it looks like Fati might be open to the prospect of a move to Real Madrid despite his Barcelona connections. Of course, if he did so, he would not be the first to swap Camp Nou for Santiago Bernabeu.

Does a move for Fati make sense for Real Madrid though? He is a spectacular talent without a doubt, but there are serious question marks over his fitness record. Fati is just 20 years of age nd he has already dealt with a number of injuries.

Those have been the biggest reasons behind him not being a regular starter for Barcelona right now, a role he had seemed destined for at one point in time. Thus, signing the Spaniard would come with a risk for Real Madrid.
