Real Madrid shelled out a major transfer fee to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. It is starting to look like a bargain though, after the start that the Englishman has made in the Spanish capital. In his first two league games, he has scored three times and assisted once as well.
Bellingham scored on his debut against Athletic Bilbao. He then followed that up with a brace and an assist in his second game for Real Madrid, against Almeria.
Bellingham was always expected to be good. But it looks like he is exceeding all expectations at the moment.
The Englishman is coming off a Bundesliga Player of the Season-winning campaign. And yet, it looks like he is already better than he was at Borussia Dortmund. In fact, it looks like Bellingham believes that he is significantly better.
Real Madrid fans will be happy with Bellingham’s comments
As reported by ESPN, Bellingham told Real Madrid TV:
"“I think I’m 10-times better as a player than last season.“I’m learning from these players. The level here is so high, I’m like a sponge taking it all in.”"
Bellingham is certainly getting to learn from some of the best in the game at Real Madrid. There is not much left to say about Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. They are all-time greats and it is great that the Englishman has gotten the chance to share a locker room with them. It should be an invaluable experience for him.
On the other hand, Real Madrid have some brilliant youngsters as well. Bellingham could certainly pick some things up from the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde, and Vinicius Junior amongst others.
With all due respect to Borussia Dortmund, and they are one of the greatest clubs in Europe, but there was a ceiling to what Bellingham could achieve at Signal Iduna Park. That no longer exists for the Englishman. The world is his oyster now. Are we looking at a future Ballon d’Or winner?
