Real Madrid seem light on options in a number of areas on the pitch at this point in time. Injuries have played a major part in that. Eder Militao picked up a potentially season-ending injury in the very first match of the season, as he suffered a torn ACL. The Brazilian was arguably the best defender that Los Blancos had available.

So, finding a replacement for Militao might not be a bad idea. The club have signed Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan in order to take Thibaut Courtois’ place between the posts. But they are yet to sign a centre-back.

Recent rumours are linking Real Madrid with an interest in Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes. And following recent events, there might be a window of opportunity for the club to make their move this summer.

Gabriel has been left out of the starting XI for two straight weeks now. It is believed that he is happy at Arsenal. But that might not remain the case for long if continues to be dropped. Could there be an opportunity for Real Madrid to make a swoop?

Gabriel could be an excellent addition to this Real Madrid team. He arrived at Arsenal in 2020. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 121 appearances for the Premier League club till now.

Gabriel was expected to remain a nailed-on starter for Arsenal this season. But Mikel Arteta appears to be preferring a centre-back pairing of William Saliba and Ben White at the moment, with the Brazilian coming off the bench.

It would take a major transfer fee to sign Gabriel from Arsenal though. It just feels unlikely that Real Madrid would shell that out at this stage of the window. Los Blancos always have long-term plans in place and this does not seem one of them.
