Sergio Ramos is a Real Madrid icon. He left the club back in the summer of 2021, after having spent sixteen years wearing the Royal White jersey. The Spaniard would go on to join PSG, where he spent a couple of seasons. Now, he is available as a free agent following his departure from the Ligue 1 giants as his contract ran out.
Ramos has been linked with a number of clubs in recent times. Of course, there was always bound to be talk of him joining the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Saudi Pro League.
Rumours also suggested that LA Galaxy were interested in Ramos. For a brief spell, there were even murmurs of a return to Real Madrid, as Eder Militao got injured. They were quickly ruled out. And Sevilla do not appear to be an option either.
After all the speculation surrounding Ramos’ future, there appears to be some clarity on the situation now. It appears that he could be headed to Turkey.
Real Madrid hero close to joining next club after leaving PSG
As reported by Foot Mercato, Ramos’ entourage is now awaiting the final offer from Besiktas before giving the go-ahead.
Besiktas finished third in the Turkish league last season. This time around, they are eighth after the first two matchdays. Thus, the club could certainly do with someone like Ramos, who has the experience of competing at the very top level.
Ramos might be 37 years of age, but he is still very capable of playing consistent football. In fact, he played a lot of minutes for a club like PSG last season and they won the Ligue 1 title.
In fact, many Real Madrid fans believed that it would have made sense for the club to sign Ramos on a one-season deal. The Spaniard could have taken Militao’s place.
