Real Madrid clearly need to make some additions all across the pitch. The club have some seriously talented players like Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and more, who could go on to dominate European football for years to come. At the same time though, one cannot overlook their unquestionable lack of depth and options.
Real Madrid simply do not have enough depth to compete for all three trophies. We saw them make a remarkable start last season but ran out of steam quickly, as fatigue and injuries caught up with them.
It is hard to imagine this campaign will be different. Los Blancos simply have not added to their depth and they have not even replaced Karim Benzema, the club’s face and main goalscorer for the past five seasons, who left for Al-Ittihad.
It looks like Real Madrid are looking to take it one step at a time though. They already have transfer targets picked out for next summer.
Real Madrid want to sign €50 million defender in 2024
As reported by Fichajes, one name on their list is Alphonso Davies. His signing is valued at around €50 million and is considered a priority for Real Madrid.
Davies has been considered one of the best young left-backs in Europe for a long time. While his development at Bayern Munich has not gone as smoothly as first expected, he still is an exceptional talent and would walk into the Real Madrid starting XI.
At the moment, Fran Garcia appears to be the starting left-back for Real Madrid. He was signed this summer from Rayo Vallecano this summer, although he did come through Los Blancos’ youth ranks. Ferland Mendy is also there but has been struggling with fitness issues for a long time and it would not be a surprise if the club end up parting ways with him soon.
