Real Madrid hero Karim Benzema linked with Al-Ittihad exit already

Real Madrid fans were caught off guard at the end of last season when Karim Benzema chose to leave the club in order to join Al-Ittihad. Throughout the campaign, there had been suggestions that he would extend his contract with Los Blancos for another year. But then, some offers are too good to turn down. Especially for someone like the Frenchman, who had already achieved everything there was to in Europe.

Benzema’s exit left a major hole in Real Madrid’s squad. One that they have not filled over the summer. So much so that Carlo Ancelotti has changed the team’s formation and it now playing without an out-and-out striker.

On the other hand, things do not seem to be going Benzema’s way at Al-Ittihad either. In fact, there is already speculation about his future at the club considering the circumstances he finds himself in.

As reported by Asharq Al-Awsat, the relationship seems tense between Benzema and Nuno Espirito Santo. The manager made it clear that the player did not fit his style of play, and he did not ask to sign him.

To be honest, common sense suggests that a club would prefer to part ways with Santo before Benzema in this situation. At the end of the day, the Frenchman is the face of their team and someone they have signed amidst a lot of fanfare.
