The Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga has been full of twists and turns. For a long time, it had looked like the Frenchman was certain to leave PSG this summer and in that scenario, Santiago Bernabeu appeared to be his most likely destination. But now, it is more than likely that he will remain with the Ligue 1 champions.
Mbappe has been brought back into the first-team picture. There are also suggestions that a contract extension with PSG is not out of the question, something that had seemed pretty much impossible not too long ago.
Some rumours broke out recently that Real Madrid were considering a late bid for Mbappe in order to sign him this summer. But it looks like they are wide of the mark.
As reported by BBC, Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out signing from PSG this summer and when asked about a deal the Real Madrid manager said:
"“No, I rule it out 100%.”"
Real Madrid’s final Mbappe decision
Thus, it looks like Real Madrid will not be making a move for Mbappe this summer. One has to wonder whether that was always the plan.
At the end of the day, Mbappe still has not signed a contract extension with PSG. And if the two parties are not able to reach an agreement, then he will leave the club as a free agent next summer.
There have been rumours that the club and the player have reached a verbal agreement to make sure that the French team are financially compensated if or when Mbappe leaves. Let’s see how that plays out.
Real Madrid will surely be hoping that things work out in their favour and they get the chance to sign Mbappe as a free agent in the future. At the end of the day, if he does leave PSG, it is likely that he will end up in the Spanish capital.
