Real Madrid have started reshaping their squad for the future. The older generation of players is slowly making way for the new. Los Blancos have already assembled a formidable midfield and have some solid talents up front as well. However, the club’s backline still requires some rebuilding.
Among other positions, right-back has emerged as one of the problem areas for Real Madrid lately. The club lack serious quality there other than Dani Carvajal, who himself is no longer the player he was in his prime.
That being said, Los Blancos could have their eyes set on their right-back of the future. And it is a name that has been linked with Real Madrid before.
Real Madrid plotting move for brilliant Chelsea player
James is a player who has been linked with Real Madrid on a number of different occasions over the years. The Englishman renewed his contract with Chelsea not too long ago though and has been handed their captaincy since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as manager.
There is no doubt that James is a superb talent. He is good at every phase of the game and has the potential to be the best right-back in the world. He could be a very good fit in this young Real Madrid side as well.
One of the potential downsides of signing James however is his injury history. The fullback is already sidelined with an injury this season, and this has been a recurring story for a while now. The Englishman just can’t seem to remain fit for any considerable length of time.
As mentioned earlier, James is under contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2028 and is believed to be happy at his boyhood club. But if they continue to struggle like they did last season, one would expect someone with the talent of the Englishman to consider his options.
