Real Madrid’s offer for Spanish wonderkid rejected
Real Madrid have a reputation for identifying and signing some of the best young talents from around the world. They have found a lot of success with this transfer policy in recent years, as many of the players have gone on to rise through the ranks at Santiago Bernabeu to become first-team regulars.
Vinicius Jr, Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde, all arrived as teenagers and have gone on to become nailed-on starters. Technically, one could say the same thing about Jude Bellingham but he was already a superstar before joined Real Madrid. They have signed a very exciting young talent in Arda Guler and let’s see how his career goes.
Real Madrid were linked with another highly-rated wonderkid in recent times in the form of Izan Merino. But it looks like their offer for him has been turned down.
As reported by Diario Sur (via Mundo Deportivo), Malaga have rejected the €250,000 offer. So, if Real Madrid want to sign Izan, they must pay the €3 million release clause in his contract.
Real Madrid’s offer for Spanish wonderkid rejected
Merino is just 17 years of age and plays as a centre-back for Malaga. He has represented Spain at the youth level as well.
He seems to be someone with a very bright future ahead of him. But is not someone who would come in and make an immediate impact at the first-team level for Real Madrid even though the club could do with another centre-back following the long-term injury suffered by Eder Miltao, who tore his ACL in the very first game of the season.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid end up deciding to activate Merino’s release clause or not. It must be pointed out that the club have had plenty of highly-rated Spanish wonderkids in their ranks in recent years but none of them have been able to break into the senior team setup.
