Could we finally be about to see the end of the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga? There has been one twist after another in this tale over the years. Just earlier this summer, it had looked like the Frenchman was almost certain to leave PSG as it did not look like he was willing to extend his contract there. So much so that he was left out of the club’s pre-season tour and their squad for the Ligue 1 opener.
There appeared to be a change in the situation almost out of the blue after that. Mbappe was brought back into the squad and rumours also surfaced that a contract extension was no longer impossible.
Of course, that was a blow to Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Mbappe. The club might have stayed calm throughout the summer but it is no secret that the Frenchman is someone whose signature they have been chasing for a while.
Some unexpected news has emerged now. And it is something nobody would have seen coming. It looks like Real Madrid might actually be closing in on a move for Mbappe.
Real Madrid reportedly close to agreeing Mbappe deal
As reported by Vozpopuli, the president of Real Madrid has agreed to present an offer to PSG for Mbappe. The signing of the Frenchman by Los Blancos could become official in hours, even this afternoon, although some fringes remain.
It remains to be seen how accurate these rumours turn out to be. Not many would expect the club to make a blockbuster offer this late in the window, especially when there is the possibility that they could sign Mbappe as a free agent next summer.
But at the same time, the club is struggling with a long list of injuries at the moment. They also do not have a player capable of playing as a centre-forward right now other than Joselu.
