Real Madrid have let a number of players go over the years, who have gone on to achieve success elsewhere. Now that the club find themselves lacking depth and options in several positions across the pitch, it is hard not to feel that quite a few of them could have made a positive contribution to Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

One issue that Real Madrid have had in recent years is promoting the club’s youth standouts to the senior team. Just this summer, we have seen Sergio Arribas and Carlos Dotor leave on a permanent basis.

Sergio Reguilon is also someone who was very highly rated while coming through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and he even had a great loan spell at Sevilla. He would leave on a permanent basis in 2020 to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Reguilon has had an up-and-down time at Tottenham Hotspur. He spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. And now, it looks like he could be headed for Old Trafford.

As reported by The Telegraph, Manchester United are set to sign Reguilon on an emergency loan. The Red Devils have moved for the left-back after talks with Chelsea over Marc Cucurella did not lead anywhere.

Thus, it looks like Reguilon is set to join another one of Europe’s biggest teams. And with Luke Shaw out injured, he could get some consistent playing time for the Red Devils.

Will Reguilon be a long-term starter for Manchester United? Time shall tell but it feels unlikely. But he can certainly be a good squad player.

Considering the current situation that Real Madrid find themselves in, especially in the full-back areas, someone like Reguilon could have certainly been a contributor. Let’s see how the Spanish left-back ends up doing at Manchester United this season.
