Why Real Madrid refused to sign Harry Kane this summer
Real Madrid could have definitely done with a world-class striker at the moment. Karim Benzema left at the end of last season and has not really been replaced. Joselu has been brought in on a season-long loan deal from Espanyol but does not feel like a player who can lead the line for Los Blancos throughout the season.
On the other hand, the club’s most reliable source of goals right now, Vinicius Junior, has also picked up an injury and is expected to be out of action for around six weeks. So right now, it is hard to see where the goals will come from other than Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo.
One world-class striker who was on the move this summer is Harry Kane. He could have been an excellent signing for Real Madrid. But he ended up joining Bayern Munich, as it looks like Los Blancos really did not make a serious attempt to sign him.
That did leave a lot of fans confused. But it looks like Real Madrid have clear plans for the future and Kane did not fit into those.
Why Real Madrid refused to sign Harry Kane this summer
As reported by Cadena SER (via Tribuna), Carlo Ancelotti asked Real Madrid to sign Kane before he joined Bayern Munich. But his request was politely declined and he was told that Los Blancos would only sign Kylian Mbappe and nobody else.
It looks like a move to Real Madrid might not be on the cards for Mbappe this summer. Despite there still being some speculation, the most likely route is for him to stay at PSG.
There have even been suggestions that a contract extension with PSG is now no longer out of the question. As for Real Madrid, it looks like the club will be relying on Ancelotti’s ability to make the best out of tough situations once again this season.
