Real Madrid eye €175 million superstar if Kylian Mbappe move fails
Real Madrid are building a squad full of some of the best young talents from across the world. The midfield of the future is set with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, who have all had a fantastic start to the season. They could dominate European football for years to come.
However, one area where Real Madrid are lacking options is centre-forward. They already have their wingers of the future with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, but who will partner the two Brazilians through the middle is still unclear.
The one name mentioned with Real Madrid almost every day is that of Kylian Mbappe. The transfer saga has been dragging on for years now and many fans understandably want to move on to other center-forward targets.
Along with Mbappe, there is one other name that has been linked with a move to Real Madrid several times in the past. And the club could look to bring him in next summer if the Frenchman does not join.
Real Madrid eye €175 million superstar if Mbappe move fails
As reported by El Debate, If Mbappe does not sign a contract with Real Madrid from January, the sports management could direct its target towards Erling Haaland.
It is believed that a release clause will become active in Haaland’s contract in the summer of 2024. That could open up a window of opportunity for Real Madrid to make their move for the Norwegian.
Haaland is someone who has been mentioned as a potential Real Madrid signing since he burst onto the scene at Red Bull Salzburg. The Norwegian was the key man in helping Manchester City win a historic treble last season, scoring an astounding 52 goals across all competitions over the campaign.
Haaland definitely fits the profile of a more traditional box striker, which seems to be slowly fading out of today’s game in place of more dynamic forwards. When it comes to putting the ball into the back of the net, nobody does it better than him though. If Real Madrid fail to sign Mbappe, turning their attention towards the Norwegian would be a no-brainer.
