Karim Benzema made the decision to leave Real Madrid at the end of last season and join Al-Ittihad. The Frenchman left as the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the club, more than the likes of Raul and Alfredo Di Stefano, and only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. On the other hand, nobody won more trophies than him in the history of Los Blancos.

Benzema left while at the top of his game as well. He is the reigning Ballon d’Or holder and scored more than 30 goals last season despite dealing with constant injury problems. For the last five seasons, he was the face of the club and the main source of goals.

He is one of many players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, N’Golo Kante, Neymar and several more, who have made the move to the league in recent times. And it looks like Benzema could be joined by another Real Madrid icon at Al-Ittihad.

As reported by MARCA, Sergio Ramos is contemplating the possibility of playing for Al Ittihad. Besiktas and Galatasaray are believed to be interested in signing the Spaniard as well.

Ramos left Real Madrid in 2021, bringing an end to a legendary run in the Spanish capital. He would go on to join the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at PSG.

After a difficult first season, he found his feet at PSG and was starting regularly for them even last season. But Ramos left this summer after his contract with the Ligue 1 champions ran out and is available as a free agent right now.

It would be interesting to see whether he chooses to leave European football while he is clearly still good enough to be playing at Champions League level. Let’s see what the future holds for the former Real Madrid captain.
