Real Madrid’s brilliant start to the season has been somewhat overshadowed by the injuries of some of their most important players. Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao will be out for most of the season if not all of it with ACL injuries. Vinicius Jr is out on the sidelines as well and could remain there for a month more as Los Blancos do not want to rush his recovery.
Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos were expected to return to action in last weekend’s 2-1 victory against Getafe. But that did not happen as it looks like it has been postponed to after the international break.
Arda Guler, the 18-year-old Turkish wonderkid, who was signed by Real Madrid for a €20 million transfer fee this summer, underwent surgery after picking up an injury during the pre-season. But it looks like he is closing in on a return now.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Guler could be on the verge of being able to enter the squad for the derby against Atletico Madrid later this month. That is the date that the Turkish youngster already has marked on his calendar.
Injured Real Madrid player could return against Atletico
Real Madrid are expected to be cautious with the player’s recovery process. And they might even be willing to wait even till the end of the second international break in October, similar to Vinicius.
It means that the new signing could be fully fit for the game against Sevilla in the second half of October. And that might actually be the sensible thing to do. At the moment, there is no need to rush the recovery of Guler and risk a setback.
Despite of all these injuries right at the start of the season, Los Blancos have not dropped a single point in La Liga and currently sit at the top of the table. And they are only expected to get better as players recover and return to the squad.
