Real Madrid have made some excellent additions to their squad this summer. Jude Bellingham is already looking like a future Ballon d’Or contender, having scored 5 goals in his first 4 matches for the club, matching a certain Cristiano Ronaldo in the process. Joselu might be a short-term but smart signing as well. And while we are yet to see Arda Guler in a Royal White jersey, the Turkish wonderkid is one to watch for too, having earned comparisons with Lionel Messi.

Despite this, there are still plenty of voids and areas of weakness in Real Madrid’s squad. One of them has to be right-back.

Dani Carvajal is no longer one of the top right-backs in the world. On the other hand, Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez are not long-term solutions either.

Thus, Real Madrid need to sign another right-back in the near future. And it looks like they have one of Chelsea’s best players in their sights.

As reported by Ok Fichajes, Real Madrid is looking to the future and already has Reece James in their sights. The club is preparing for next season and considers that the Chelsea right-back would be a high-calibre reinforcement.

James is a top-level right-back without a doubt and has shown his quality against Real Madrid in the past as well. But at the same time, there are a couple of things that Los Blancos need to watch out for.

The first is his injury history. James has picked up one injury after another over the past couple of seasons and there are serious doubts about how his career will play out if things don’t improve in that regard quickly.

On the other hand, James came through the Chelsea academy and was named as the club’s captain just recently. He also has a long-term contract with the Blues. Thus, convincing the Englishman to leave in the near future might be difficult.
