The German national team have been on a steady decline since winning the World Cup in 2014. They were knocked out from the group stages of the following two editions of the tournament and have not been much better in EUROs either. And now, they find themselves in search of a new manager after Hansi Flick was shown the exit door. Interestingly, a Real Madrid legend is being linked with the job.

When Flick was appointed, there were hopes that he would be the one to revitalise the German national team after a superb stint with Bayern Munich that saw him win seven trophies in a season-and-a-half. That clearly did not happen.

On the contrary, the German national team has never seemed weaker. They have lost four of their last five games.

After a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Japan, he was sacked. The German national team now need to appoint a suitable manager to get things back on track. As reported by Madrid Universal, BILD has identified Zinedine Zidane as one of the options to take over from Flick.

Real Madrid remain the only team that Zidane has managed to date. The Frenchman spent two separate stints in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat, bringing success to the club both times, including the legendary Champions League three-peat.

Zidane has remained without a team since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021. And it is quite clear that he will only take up a job if it interests him.

At this point in time, it is difficult to see that being the Germany job. They have some pretty good talents without a shadow of a doubt. But overall, it would be difficult for any manager to overturn their fortunes anytime soon if recent results are anything to go by.
