Mohamed Salah is a Liverpool icon and often does not get enough credit for what he has done since arriving at Anfield in 2017. He is the third-highest goalscorer in the club’s history, ahead of legends like Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish. The Egyptian has been linked with a move away recently though and could a Real Madrid superstar emerge as a potential option to replace him?
Al-Ittihad appear to be after the signature of Salah. As reported by The Guardian, Liverpool have rejected a £150 million offer for him already, which would have an initial £100 million plus £50 million in add-ons.
Al-Ittihad are expected to try once again in the future. And with Salah being 31 years of age, it will be interesting to see what Liverpool decide to do.
If Salah does end up leaving Liverpool, they will need to replace him. He has been the face of the club since arriving in 2017 and averages around 30 goals per season from the wing. It will not be easy to find a replacement.
Real Madrid star named as option to replace Salah at Liverpool
The Athletic recently listed the potential options Liverpool would have if they needed to replace Salah. And one of the names that gets a mention is Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid.
Of course, Liverpool will be very aware of the quality that Vinicius possesses. He has given the Reds quite a few nightmares in recent times, including scoring a winner in the Champions League final in 2022.
It is hard to imagine that Real Madrid would consider the prospect of parting ways with Vinicius though. Following the departure of Karim Benzema, he has to be considered the face of this team and their most reliable source of goals.
Nothing is impossible in football. But do not expect to see Vinicius in a Liverpool shirt anytime soon.
