One area where Real Madrid need to make reinforcements as soon as possible is striker. It was a surprise that the club did not sign a world-class centre-forward this summer. Karim Benzema left at the end of last season in order to join Al-Ittihad, leaving a big void up top for Los Blancos. They did bring in Joselu on a season-long loan from Espanyol and while the Spaniard can do a job there, he does not seem like the one to lead the line if they want to challenge for all three trophies.
The fact that Carlo Ancelotti decided to change formation, going from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2, goes on to show the necessity for a striker. And now, even Vinicius Jr is out injured.
Jude Bellingham has done a fantastic job since arriving at Real Madrid, scoring 5 goals in 4 appearances till now. One cannot expect that run to go on forever though.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Kylian Mbappe in recent times. While at his best on the left flank, the Frenchman has played extensively as a centre-forward as well. He is not the only one on Los Blancos’ radar though.
Real Madrid eyeing move for €200m Napoli superstar
As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid are determined to strengthen their forward line for next season. With the departure of Benzema to Al-Ittihad during the summer and the difficulty in signing Mbappe, the club have their eyes on Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has emerged as a superstar at Napoli. Last season, he guided the team to their first Serie A title since a certain Diego Maradona was at the club.
It is believed that Napoli would look for a transfer fee around €200 million to part ways with Osimhen. They do have a reputation for being tough negotiators. Hopefully, there will be some room for negotiation if Real Madrid do end up making a move next summer.
