Real Madrid have signed quite a few players from Chelsea in recent years. Thibaut Courtois has proven to be a stalwart in the team and played a big part in all of Los Blancos’ success over the past five years or so. On the other hand, the signing of Eden Hazard will go down as one of the club’s biggest transfer mistakes of all time.

Antonio Rudiger arrived as a free agent after his contract with Chelsea ran out. And this summer, they signed Kepa Arrizabalaga on a season-long loan after Courtois got injured.

Kepa has been placed as the starting goalkeeper since his arrival. And he seems to be pretty open to the idea of joining Real Madrid on a permanent basis in the future. Will the club make a move for him though?

As reported by SPORT, Chelsea value his transfer at €25 million. On the other hand, Real Madrid will try to pay a fee around €18 million if they decide to sign him. Kepa would be “delighted” to continue at Santiago Bernabeu.

A lot will depend on how Kepa performs for Real Madrid this season. If he shines then it is very possible that the club could try to sign him permanently from Chelsea when his loan spell comes to an end. On the other hand, if he is not impressive, then a return to Stamford Bridge seems the more likely route.

Interestingly, Real Madrid might need to sign another goalkeeper next summer. Andriy Lunin’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and he is not expected to sign an extension.

At the end of the day, even if Real Madrid signed Kepa permanently next summer, one would expect him to be a cover option. When fully fit, Courtois is the undisputed number one.
