Real Madrid do have a recent history of signing players from Chelsea. Just this summer, they brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan for the season after Thibaut Courtois tore his ACL. Interestingly, the Belgian goalkeeper himself was signed from the Blues. Of course, the move for Eden Hazard will go down as one of the biggest transfer mistakes in Los Blancos’ history.

Some names from the past include Arjen Robben, Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien. Antonio Rudiger also joined Real Madrid when his contract with Chelsea ran out.

Thus, the path from Stamford Bridge to Santiago Bernabeu has been well travelled. And could another name be added to that list soon?

Reece James is someone who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent times. The Spanish giants are in need of a long-term solution at right-back and there are few better options around than the Englishman.

As reported by Football Insider, it would take a ridiculous offer for Chelsea to part ways with James. The Blues are believed to be keen to build their side around the Englishman.

It was not too long ago that James signed a long-term contract extension with Chelsea. He was recently handed the captain’s armband as well and is someone who has come through their academy.

But then at the same time, one has to wonder how long James would want to stick around if Chelsea continue to struggle. They finished 12th in the Premier League last season and do not look much better at the start of this campaign.

In fact, they sit 14th right now and have won just one of their first five Premier League games. So, if things don’t change quickly, one would expect players with James’ quality to push for an exit.
