Zinedine Zidane wanted €65m Manchester City signing at Real Madrid
Zinedine Zidane will go down as one of the best players as well as managers in the history of Real Madrid. As a player, there is not much left to say about the French maestro that has not been said before. As a manager, it feels like he often does not get enough credit even though he won three Champions League titles, two La Ligas and several other trophies during his time in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat.
He is also very underrated for the players who were signed while he was the manager of Real Madrid. Eder Militao and Vinicius Junior have gone on to become key parts of the club, while the likes of Theo Hernandez, Martin Odegaard and Takefusa Kubo are proving themselves elsewhere.
There is another player who Zidane is believed to have wanted at Real Madrid. But a move did not materialise. This summer, he joined Manchester City for a €65 million transfer fee.
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Zidane was keen on having Jeremy Doku at Real Madrid and presented the club with the option to sign him two years back. However, Los Blancos failed to get a deal done.

Zidane certainly has an eye for a good young talent. Doku’s career has gone from strength to strength since then. And he is already showing his quality at Manchester City.
Doku scored his first goal for Manchester City at the weekend, as he found the back of the net against West Ham United. And there are expected to be many more to come in the future. Pep Guardiola rarely gets signings wrong.
Of course, Real Madrid do not have enough options in the forward areas. And they could have certainly done with a talent like Doku right now.
