The long-running Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga has been going on for years now. Every summer, there are rumours and speculation that a move to Santiago Bernabeu is a possibility and yet, he eventually ends up remaining at PSG. Things could be different next year though, as his contract is set to run out at the end of the season.
There have been some suggestions that the idea of Mbappe signing a contract extension with PSG has not been ruled out completely. But till now, he has yet to put to paper on a new deal.
It is always difficult, pretty much impossible, to predict what will happen in the Mbappe transfer saga after the many twists and turns will have witnessed over the years. But it is hard not to feel that Santiago Bernabeu is his most likely destination.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano appears to think that Mbappe will join Mbappe next summer. As reported by SPORTbible, he said:
"“Kylian Mbappe has agreed not to receive his annual loyalty bonus to play again with PSG.“From what I hear, I think his destination next summer will be Real Madrid, whether via a clause or free.”"
Fabrizio thinks Mbappe will join Real Madrid
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Mbappe. It is curious that he was brought back into PSG first-team fold so quickly, when they had earlier seemed determined to part ways with him if the Frenchman did not sign a new deal.
If Real Madrid are able to sign Mbappe as a free agent, it would go down as one of the greatest deals in history. They would be getting one of the best players in the world, possibly the very best, on a free transfer.
But even if they somehow have to pay a transfer fee to PSG, it is more than likely that it would be a bargain figure. Let’s see how things play out.
That being said, you can never be certain when it comes to the Mbappe transfer saga. So, Real Madrid should have some alternative targets lined up.
