Real Madrid are no strangers to signing players from Chelsea. Over the years, Los Blancos have signed the likes of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Arjen Robben, Michael Essien, Ricardo Carvalho and more from the London club. Currently, Kepa Arrizabalaga is on loan at Santiago Bernabeu for the season.
There is another Chelsea player Real Madrid have been heavily linked with in recent times. That is none other than their club captain Reece James.
James was handed the captain’s armband after Cesar Azpilicueta left for Atletico Madrid. The Blues’ performances have not improved under the management of Mauricio Pochettino though as they sit at 14th in the Premier League table despite having had a favourable run of games till now.
Last season, they finished 12th in the Premier League. And one has to wonder whether players like James would reconsider their future if things don’t improve soon.
Chelsea make James decision amid Real Madrid rumours
It is believed that Real Madrid view James as one of their top targets to strengthen at right-back next summer. The Chelsea captain has been linked with Manchester City recently as well. What do the Blues make all of it though?
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea have no intention of parting ways with James. He is not available for transfer and they will not listen to any offers for him. At the same time, the player has no intention of leaving his boyhood club either.
Thus, it looks like signing James would be very difficult. Real Madrid must keep alternative targets in their sights.
At the same time though, things can change very quickly in football. Mason Mount was viewed as a future Chelsea captain for years and he left earlier in the summer, at 24 years of age, to join Manchester United. So nothing should ever be ruled out.
