Real Madrid’s squad for the future is starting to come together very nicely. The midfield already seems secured with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde. The four of them are expected to lead the club for the better part of the next decade.

One area in the squad however that could use one last piece is the forward line. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo are no doubt the wingers of the future along with newly signed Arda Guler who is only 18 years old and has plenty of time to grow and develop more.

The missing piece of the puzzle is a starting centre-forward to lead the line for the future years to come. With Karim Benzema departing for Al-Ittihad, there is a significant gap up front for Real Madrid at the moment.

The club brought in Joselu on loan from Espanyol this summer and he has been doing well. But the Spaniard seems to be a short-term solution while Los Blancos plan for their longer-term future.

The name that is mentioned as Real Madrid’s long-term centre-forward time and again is Kylian Mbappe. But with the Frenchman’s future always clouded in mystery, the club should look at other options as well, and there is one in particular that is very exciting.

Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has been linked with Real Madrid in the past. The Argentine is a very unique and versatile player. He naturally plays through the middle but can also drift out wide at times and create from the wings.

The 23-year-old was a standout at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as Argentina won the competition after 36 years and he deserves a starting role at a top European club. Alvarez has the quality and skills to be the future striker that Real Madrid need.

It is a reassuring sign to see Real Madrid being linked with a move for Alvarez lately. At the same time though, he has been playing regular football for Manchester City this season and there is very little incentive for him to leave anymore.
