Most Real Madrid fans wanted the club to bring in reinforcements in the forward areas over the summer following the departure of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio, two players who had key roles in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans last season. The club did end up signing Joselu on loan from Espanyol. To be fair to the Spaniard, he has done very well and exceeded a lot of people’s expectations.
Arda Guler is another player with the ability to make a difference in the final third but we are yet to see him play in a Real Madrid shirt. He has already been injured twice since arriving.
The club simply do not have enough options up top to compete with top teams across Europe on a consistent basis. More signings are expected to be made next summer.
As reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid have been evaluating a series of options to strengthen its squad. One of the names that has been in the spotlight is Heung-min Son.
Real Madrid interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur superstar
Son has established himself as a legend during his time at Tottenham Hotspur. With Harry Kane leaving in the summer to join Bayern Munich, the South Korean international is now the face of the club as well.
Admittedly, the 2022/23 season was not great for Son as he struggled to match the standards he has set for himself. But under the management of Ange Postecoglou, he seems to be back to his very best once again. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 5 goals in 6 Premier League appearances in this campaign till now.
Son is 31 years of age and would not be a long-term solution for Real Madrid though. But with his contract set to run out in 2025, he might possibly be available for a bargain transfer fee, if a new deal is not agreed.
