Even after the summer transfer window ended, the Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer saga still seems to be pretty much alive in everyone’s minds. So much so that Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, recently had to clarify the situation of the French superstar and his future.
Ever since Mbappe and France won the World Cup, Real Madrid have heavily linked with him. Many fans viewed it as their dream transfer after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club in the summer of 2018.
Almost five years have gone by since then and Mbappe is yet to pull on the royal white shirt. This summer though it looked more possible than ever when the 24-year-old was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour and was training away from the first-team for a while too.
It looked like the club wanted him to extend his contract or leave in the summer. But he was then surprisingly brought back into the squad before the second game of the season against Toulouse.
PSG president makes Mbappe claim amid Real Madrid links
As reported by GOAL, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Meczyki when asked if the France international will still be in Paris next season:
"“Kylian Mbappe is a PSG player. He loves the club. He’s a fantastic player. He’s the best in the world. We are very happy to have him and we will have him.”"
The superstar is yet to renew his contract with the club which should be a matter of concern for PSG. They must look to sort things out as fast as possible. Otherwise, he is scheduled to become a free agent next summer.
According to rumours, Real Madrid are expected to try to agree on a pre-contract agreement with Mbappe in January itself in order to avoid any last-minute twists. If they are able to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer, it would go down as one of the best deals in the history of the game and he will become the face of the club immediately.
