We are just a few games into the season and there are already serious question marks about the future of some Real Madrid players. Carlo Ancelotti does not have a squad with a lot of depth but one area which is very strong is the midfield department. Jude Bellingham has already proven to be a superstar since arriving in the summer. The likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde have done well too.

At the moment, all-time legends like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are struggling to get into the starting XI on a consistent basis. So, one has to wonder how much playing time Dani Ceballos is going to get moving forward.

It was just months ago that Ceballos signed a contract extension with Real Madrid. But it is hard to see him getting consistent opportunities in this midfield.

There is no lack of interest in Ceballos’ signature though as a return to the Premier League could be on the cards. As reported by XCatalunya, Aston Villa are already preparing an offer of up to €18 million to sign the Spaniard.

Ceballos is a cover option at best right now at Real Madrid. He has been dealing with fitness issues lately as well.

All things combined, playing time has been difficult to come by. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Ceballos has made 2 appearances and played 49 minutes of football this season till now.

As a result, it is not hard to understand why he is being linked with a move away from the club just three months after signing a new four-year deal. Aston Villa have been brilliant since appointing Unai Emery as manager and it could be a good fit for someone like Ceballos, who already has experience of playing in the Premier League with Arsenal.
