Real Madrid starter could lose his place in the team

It is no secret that Real Madrid do not have much depth at this point in time. Yet, they have won all but one of their matches this season. That is largely thanks to several players stepping up to the plate and delivering whenever the team needs them. Of course, the most notable name in that regard has been that of Jude Bellingham, who might be the face of the club just months into his time in the Spanish capital, exceeding all expectations in the process.

Another player who has done very well with the chances that he has been given is Joselu. Many people wrote off the Spaniard before he had even played a game for Real Madrid but he has been proving the doubters wrong since then.

Joselu is currently on loan from Espanyol. According to Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 10 appearances and 536 minutes of action.

That is an excellent return from the Spanish international. Yet, it does not seem like he is considered a regular starter by Carlo Ancelotti. It might be only a matter of time before that changes though.

Rodrygo has disappointed this season to be very honest. For the first time in his Real Madrid career, he had started the campaign as a starter.

Unfortunately, the Brazilian has not been able to take the chance. Till now, he has only a goal and an assist to his name and is on a nine-game goalless run after having scored in the season-opener against Athletic Bilbao.

As a result, questions are being asked about his place in the team. And if things do not change quickly, it might be only a matter of time before Rodrygo is sent to the bench while Joselu becomes the starter in his place.
