Both Real Madrid and Barcelona look set to be without some key players when they face each other in the first El Clasico of the season later this month. Los Blancos will surely be missing Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, both of whom might not even play in this campaign again after tearing their ACLs. And Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be hoping to avoid any more serious injuries.

On the other hand, it looks like Barcelona could be without their star man against Real Madrid. That is none other than Robert Lewandowski.

As reported by SPORT, Lewandowski is suffering from a sprained left ankle. He could be out for more than a month.

Lewandowski had to be substituted off in their recent Champions League game against FC Porto in the first half itself. And if he is indeed out for more than a month, he won’t be able to make it for the first El Clasico of the campaign. There are still more than three weeks to go till that game though.

Lewandowski is one of the most important players that Barcelona have right now. He won the Pichichi Trophy last year and has made a bright start to this campaign as well.

Thus, if Barcelona have to face Real Madrid without him, it would be a major blow for them and a relief for Ancelotti’s side. Of course, it is very possible that he could recover in time to participate on the big day.

Let’s see how things play out between now and then. Real Madrid cannot afford to look too far ahead. They have three more games to play before they take on Barcelona later in October.

Real Madrid have won all but one of their games this season so far. Despite that, their performances have been shaky and need improvement over coming weeks.
