Liverpool bolstered their midfield ranks in the summer by signing quite a few players and they certainly seem to have improved significantly as a result of it. It was a refresh that Jurgen Klopp’s side were clearly in need of. At the same time, it looks like they are still looking towards adding in the middle of the park and seem to be leading the race to sign a midfielder who has been linked with Real Madrid as well.

Real Madrid arguably have the best midfield in all of Europe. But with the futures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in doubt, and Dani Ceballos being linked with a move to Aston Villa, the club might need to add there earlier than most people think.

Khephren Thuram is someone Real Madrid have been linked with in the past. And they clearly are not the only ones who have been impressed by the OGC Nice midfielder.

As reported by Tutto Juve, Liverpool are believed to be leading the race for Thuram. The French international has also been linked with clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Newcastle United. It is expected to take a transfer fee of at least €40 million to sign him.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool do end up making a move for Thuram. He is certainly one of the most highly-rated young talents in world football right now.

Someone like him would tick a lot of the boxes that Real Madrid look for, when signing players. And of course, several other clubs are believed to be interested as well.

Thuram is still just 22 years of age but he has already made almost 150 appearances for OGC Nice and is a full French international as well. He is currently considered to be one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1.
