Real Madrid need to strengthen in a number of positions across the pitch in the future. One of them has to be centre-back. Eder Militao, the best one they have in the position, tore his ACL in the very first game of the season and might possibly be out for the entirety of the campaign. When he does return, it would be interesting to see how he performs, because an injury of that magnitude could be career-altering.

On the other hand, there have been question marks over the performances of David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho, despite the fact that Real Madrid have won all but one of their games this season till now. Defence has not been their strength.

All three of them are past 30 years of age as well. Thus, all things considered, one would not be surprised if Real Madrid signed another centre-back in the future.

In fact, they seem to have quite a few on their radar. As reported by SPORT, various media outlets highlight Leny Yoro of Lille, Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta, Ousmane Diomande of Sporting CP and Malick Thiaw of AC Milan as Real Madrid targets.

Thus, it seems pretty clear the profile of centre-back Real Madrid are looking for. They appear to be eyeing a youngster with a ton of potential and room for development.

This should not come as much of a surprise. That has pretty much been Real Madrid’s transfer policy in recent years, as they have moved away from signing well-established superstars unless they are available as free agents.

It remains to be seen if they end up signing a centre-back in the near future. Next summer might be the ideal time to do so. Of course, they have some talented players at Castilla as well.
