Real Madrid have made a solid start to the season despite all the question marks surrounding the club, having won all but one of their games till now. Carlo Ancelotti has had to face a fair bit of criticism in recent times but he deserves credit for the job he has done, getting the most out of this paper-thin squad.

Real Madrid could find themselves in search of a new manager soon though. Ancelotti’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has been heavily linked with the Brazil national team job lately.

On the other hand, Xabi Alonso is rumoured to be the favourite to replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid after having impressed with his work at Bayer Leverkusen. He is not the only one Los Blancos have been linked with though.

Another name rumoured to be on Real Madrid’s managerial shortlist is that of Roberto De Zerbi. He has impressed immensely, turning Brighton & Hove Albion into one of the best teams in the Premier League and is considered one of the best young managers in the world, similar to Alonso.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Brighton & Hove Albion are planning to enter into contract talks with De Zerbi. The current one runs till the summer of 2026. The new deal will also extend his release clause, which stands at £10 million.

Someone like De Zerbi could be someone outside the box but a good pick for the Real Madrid job. Of course, the big worry would be whether he could perform at a club of this magnitude.
