Antonio Rudiger suspension worry for Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Antonio Rudiger deserves a lot of credit for some of the performances that he has put in lately. The German defender had a difficult debut season with Real Madrid last time around but finally seems to be growing into the team. And with so many key players missing, he seems to have taken some responsibility on his shoulders as well.

Thus, he could be important for the first El Clasico of the season against Barcelona, set to be played later this month. But there is a worry that Rudiger could end up being suspended for the game if he is not careful.

Rudiger picked up his fourth yellow card of the league season recently. As a result, another one would see him serve a suspension.

Real Madrid have a match against Sevilla after the international break before they take on Barcelona. And if Rudiger does play in that match, which is also a very important one, then he would have to be careful not to pick another yellow card.

It remains to be seen if Rudiger does play in that match or not. It is very possible that Carlo Ancelotti could opt to leave him out of the team on that occasion rather than risking him potentially missing the first El Clasico of the season.

At the same time though, Real Madrid are missing so many centre-backs at the moment. Thus, leaving Rudiger out would be a risk in itself.

The situation is far from ideal to say the very least. The game against Barcelona could have major implications of the La Liga title race as it looks like the two are going to be competing over it once again this season. Let’s just hope that Rudiger lines up against the Catalan giants later this month.
