Chelsea and Real Madrid both want Argentine wonderkid

Argentina are the current world champions for a reason and they have produced some of the very best players in the game throughout their history. One of their brightest young talents seems to have caught the eye of the biggest teams in Europe recently. The likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan and more are among them.

Left-back is an area of the pitch where Real Madrid need to improve. Ferland Mendy’s long-term future at the club is uncertain and he has been linked with a move away on numerous occasions. On the other hand, Fran Garcia is yet to show that he can be a starter for Los Blancos on a consistent basis.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Alphonso Davies lately. But it looks like there is another player in their sights as well.

As reported by Fichajes, teams like Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Real Madrid and Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Valentin Barco of Boca Juniors. AC Milan have joined the race for the 19-year-old left-back as well.

Barco has emerged as one of the best young talents in Argentine football in recent times. He is just 19 years of age but is already playing consistent football with Boca Juniors.

Barco has mostly played as a left-back but has the ability to play throughout the left flank. That kind of versatility is only expected to raise the interest of clubs that want to sign him.

Interestingly, there is believed to be a release clause of around $10 million in his current deal. That would have to be considered as a bargain figure for someone with Barco’s potential.

Real Madrid have a great record of developing youngsters in recent times. Let’s see if they can get a deal done to sign Barco from Boca Juniors.
