Barcelona appear to be dealing with injury problems lately, with key players potentially missing the upcoming El Clasico as a result of them. Robert Lewandowski recently was dealt a problem and he could potentially be out of the game against Real Madrid as a result. And now another high-profile name seems to be joined him on the list of doubts.

Barcelona have slipped down to third in the La Liga table and are three points behind league leaders Real Madrid right now. Thus, the upcoming El Clasico is very important to both teams and is what is considered a ‘six-pointer’ of a match.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, they might not be in the best shape going into it. Jules Kounde is the latest player to pick up an injury.

The Frenchman has a left MCL sprain. As tweeted out by Toni Juanmarti, Kounde is set to miss the El Clasico and will be out for about five weeks.

Kounde was signed by Barcelona from Sevilla in the summer of 2022 after he had looked set for Chelsea for a good while. And the Frenchman has developed into a vital part of Xavi’s side over time.

Thus, if he does indeed end up missing the upcoming El Clasico, it would have to be considered a blow for the Catalan giants. Let’s see how his recovery goes. Even in the best-case scenario, it looks like Kounde will be in a race against time to be fit for the big game.

On the other hand, Real Madrid themselves have had their fair share of injury problems this season. But they have found a way to win regardless. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been criticised a lot but the fact of the matter is that they have won 10 out of the 11 games played.
