Real Madrid’s centre-back situation is one to keep an eye on. They have potentially lost Eder Militao for the entire season after he tore his ACL in the very first match of the campaign against Athletic Bilbao. The three remaining options for Carlo Ancelotti are Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Nacho Fernandez.
All three are past 30 years of age. And questions have been raised about their performances in recent times as well. However, one cannot deny that Real Madrid have improved defensively this season.
In the first 9 La Liga games of the campaign, they have conceded just 6 goals. In contrast, they had conceded 36 in 38 last season.
That being said, it would not be a surprise to see the club try to sign a young centre-back in the near future. And it looks like one of AC Milan’s starters is in their sights right now.
Real Madrid ready to offer €20 million for AC Milan player
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have set their sights on Malick Thiaw for next season. According to what they say in Italy, the Spanish giants would be willing to shell out a €20 million fee for the AC Milan centre-back.
Thiaw currently plays for AC Milan and has managed to establish himself as a regular starter for the Italian giants. He is also a German international.
AC Milan signed Thiaw from Schalke in the summer of 2022 for a transfer fee believed to be around €7 million. It is hard to imagine that they would be willing to let a regular starter, who is just 22 years of age, go for a figure around €20 though.
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid do indeed end up making a move for Thiaw in the future. The German international would be a solid addition to this squad for sure.
