Most fans believe that Real Madrid’s biggest weakness at this point in time is their lack of depth. The club have made a fantastic start to this campaign without a doubt, winning ten of their first eleven games across all competitions. But, one cannot forget that they had been superb at the beginning of the previous campaign as well before injuries and fatigue took a toll on their paper-thin squad and their form faded away drastically.

Real Madrid will be hoping to avoid something similar in the future. And the best way to do that is by adding depth to the squad.

The club could certainly do with more options in forward areas of the pitch. It looks like they have a versatile Spanish international in their sights.

As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Real Madrid are interested in Mikel Oyarzabal. Los Blancos have compiled a list of five Spanish players to pursue in the summer transfer window of 2024 and the Real Sociedad captain is one of the candidates.

Oyarzabal is the captain of Real Sociedad and the 26-year-old Spanish international is one of the best players in La Liga as well. So, it is not difficult to understand why Real Madrid might be interested in signing him.

Oyarzabal is a very versatile player, with the ability to play on both flanks as well as a centre-forward. Real Madrid lack depth in all three positions. Thus, the Spaniard could be like three signings in one for Los Blancos.

Of course, it would not be easy to convince Real Sociedad to part ways with their captain and they won’t be under any pressure either. It was just earlier in the year that Oyarzabal extended his contract and it runs until the summer of 2028.
