Real Madrid do not have a lot of depth in their squad right now. Despite that, there are some players who have struggled to get any sort of consistent playing time in Carlo Ancelotti’s team and as a result, they have been linked with moves away constantly. It remains to be seen what the future holds for them.

One player who is almost certainly to leave next summer is Andriy Lunin. The 24-year-old has long been considered one of the best young goalkeepers on the planet but has never gotten a real run at Santiago Bernabeu.

When Thibaut Courtois got injured, Real Madrid went out and signed Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea. Thus, the writing is pretty much on the wall for Lunin, who has gone from playing cover for the Belgian to the Spaniard.

Lunin’s current contract runs out at the end of this season and he is expected to leave then, as an extension seems highly unlikely. In fact, it looks like he considered leaving in the summer.

As reported by Football Espana, Lunin said while speaking to El Chiringuito:

"“At the end of last season I was thinking about it. It’s normal when you don’t play, but Real Madrid has always been a dream since I was young. You don’t really want to leave, but you always want to play, you train to play, you want to feel the emotions of the games.“We will see, now I’m focused on training. There were offers from other clubs but I didn’t talk to them, there was nothing serious.”"

Lunin has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for quite some time now, as it is pretty clear that he won’t be the starter for the club anytime soon if ever. At 24 years of age, he needs to be playing consistent football.

In the past, he was linked with a move to Ajax and something like that could have been perfect for Lunin. It did not happen. Now, let’s see what the future holds for him.

On the other hand, the goalkeeper situation is pretty interesting for Real Madrid as well. Will they sign Kepa permanently next summer? Or will they let him return to Chelsea?
