Eden Hazard officially called an end to his career at just the age of 32 after leaving Real Madrid this summer after a mutual agreement on a contract termination a year before it was scheduled to run out. The Belgian was rumoured to have garnered interest from several clubs across Europe but ended up deciding to walk away from the game.

Hazard’s time at Real Madrid did not go the way anybody would have expected. Brought in during the summer of 2019 after a legendary seven-year run at Chelsea, the Belgian struggled with injuries the whole time he was at Santiago Bernabeu and that never allowed him to settle in the Spanish capital.

However, just days after announcing his retirement, Hazard has been offered a potential outlet to put on the boots once again. Would a return to London interest him enough to come out of retirement?

As reported by the Mirror, West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan is prepared to hand Hazard a trial at the London club. He told talkSPORT:

"“I’d have the Hazard of Chelsea at West Ham, yeah.“I’m sure if he wanted to come and trial we’d, I mean, I’d certainly be willing to. I don’t know about the gaffer [David Moyes]. But I’d certainly want to trial him!”"

At the age of 32, Hazard could still have a good year or two left in the tank. It would be sad for a career like his to end the way it did, amidst a series of injuries and spending the majority of the last four years on the bench.

A short-term move to West Ham United would be a chance for him to prove that he still has what it takes to succeed at the top level. Of course, he spent seven years at Chelsea, so life in London would be familiar for the Belgian.

At the same time, it is hard to imagine Hazard deciding to come out of retirement for a trial at West Ham United. There were believed to be plenty of offers on the table for him in the summer but he decided to retire. In his mind, there must be a good reason for that.
