Real Madrid might have a paper-thin squad overall but there is one area where they are arguably the best in Europe. It is their midfield department, which is absolutely stacked. So much so that we are seeing all-time legends like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos struggling for game time while the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni appear to be ahead of them in the pecking order.

A lot has been made about Modric and his future at the club. But it looks like there is another midfielder who is eyeing a potential exit in January.

Dani Ceballos has become a bit of a forgotten man at Real Madrid this season despite the fact that he signed a long-term contract extension not too long ago on the back of some impressive displays in the 2022/23 campaign. And now, there is doubt surrounding the Spaniard’s future.

As reported by Defensa Central (via Fichajes), Ceballos would be seriously contemplating his departure from the club in the upcoming transfer window. He has had limited playing time and this has led the Spanish player to request a transfer with the aim of finding a place where he can fully display his qualities and potential.

It is worth pointing out that Ceballos spent quite a while out injured earlier this season. Since he has been available, he has been given minutes off the bench by Carlo Ancelotti.

So, he is not completely out of the manager’s plans. But that being said, Ceballos is yet to start a single game this season.

There is believed to be interest in Ceballos’ signature though, in the scenario that he did decide to leave Real Madrid in the near future. Aston Villa, currently managed by Unai Emery, are one of the clubs believed to be interested in him.
