Real Madrid could certainly do with more options upfront. If there is one thing we have learned this season till now, it is the fact that Rodrygo is nowhere near his best when playing in a central role. Vinicius Jr has done a decent job but he also looks better on the wing. And while Joselu has exceeded all expectations so far, he is 33 years of age and only on loan for the 23/24 campaign from Espanyol.

When Karim Benzema left the club at the end of last season, most fans expected them to sign a world-class centre-forward to replace him in the long term. That did not happen. And while Joselu has proven to be an excellent short-term fix, sooner or later, Real Madrid will need to make a major signing there.

For a long time, the club have been linked with Erling Haaland. But in recent weeks, it is starting to feel like the rumours are starting to shift towards the Norwegian’s Manchester City teammate, Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez has been excellent for Manchester City this season. A lot of people feel that he is outperforming Haaland at the moment. And the Argentine World Cup winner seems to be on the radar of Real Madrid.

As reported by Radio Continental AM 590 (via Madrid Universal), Real Madrid are aware that Alvarez will be happy to play in Spain. From Argentina, they assure that the club has made contact with his entourage to express their willingness to sign him.

Alvarez is finally getting consistent chances at Manchester City and proving his value to Pep Guardiola’s team. He was also instrumental in Argentina winning the World Cup last year.

Of course, signing Alvarez will be very difficult. Manchester City are unlikely to be keen on letting one of their rising players leave.
