Carlo Ancelotti does not get enough credit for the job that he has done in his second stint as manager of Real Madrid. The first thing one has to point out is the fact that this is not an easy time to manage the club. They lack depth and options in several positions across the pitch. On top of that, the squad is in a transitional phase with legends slowly making way for the next generation.

Not many managers could have come into this situation and succeeded. Ancelotti has won every trophy possible in his second stint as Real Madrid manager though.

The start of this campaign has been great as well. The manager has faced criticism for his tactics and style of play, but nobody can debate with success. And Real Madrid have won ten of the eleven games they have played so far this season, sitting atop both La Liga and Champions League tables.

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Ancelotti though. He is widely expected to leave at the end of this season, when his contract runs out and is the favourite for the Brazil national team job.

Real Madrid did not hesitate to bring Ancelotti back to the club for a second run. Could they try to repeat that trick again?

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Jose Mourinho has reappeared as one of the possible replacements for Ancelotti from next season. The name of the Portuguese manager is beginning to sound strongly as a candidate.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Real Madrid, Ancelotti and Mourinho. Nothing is set in stone as of now. The Portuguese icon is currently the manager of AS Roma and is expected to leave next summer.
